What is Tickshield

Tickshield is our strongest and longest-lasting bug spray, making it ideal for hikers, campers, and other outdoorsmen. Because Tickshield dries quickly and does not stain, it’s perfect for clothing, backpacks, tents, and other gear, too.

Β

Tickshield is a family-safe, plant-based bug spray for use on people, pets over 20 lbs., and all throughout your home. Tickshield kills and repels fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, ants, and mites. Because of its stronger scent, we suggest consulting a veterinarian before using Tickshield on animals under 20 lbs.

How to Use Tickshield

Spray directly on skin, clothing, and gear to kill and repel insects & many other pests. Use hands to apply to face-do not spray directly. Avoid contact with eyes. Use before and after outdoor activities to kill and repel mosquitos, ticks, and other biting pests. Reapply as needed.

Tickshield shouldΒ only be used on medium to large size pets.Β We do not recommend using Tickshield on cats.

Spray a light mist directly on fur, on a brush, or spray onto hands and massage into coat until solution reaches the skin. Use hands to apply to face-do not spray directly. Be sure to apply all over, including armpits, in between toes, and on and around ears and tail. Use on pets before and after outdoor activities to kill and repel pests like fleas & ticks. Reapply as needed.

Spray as needed to kill and repel insects in all areas of the home: including flooring, counters, furniture, doorways, window frames, and pet areas. Tickshield dries clear and will not stain.

Tickshield vs. Cedarcide Original

Tickshield and Cedarcide Original are both family-safe bug sprays for personal, pet, and indoor use.

Tickshield is simply an extra-strength version of Cedarcide Original, containing 20% cedarwood oil compared to Cedarcide Original’s 10%. Because of its stronger scent, we suggest consulting a veterinarian before using Tickshield on animals under 20 lbs.

How Does It Work?

Insect Dehydration

Bugs are sensitive to moisture loss, which is bad news for those that come into contact with cedarwood oil. Cedarwood oil leaches moisture from insects and other bugs, leaving them dried out and eventually dead.

Pheromone Disruption

Bugs use pheromones to navigate, search for food, and regulate their bodily functions. Cedarwood oil disrupts these pheromones, disorienting them, repelling them, and ultimately killing them.

Absolutely my favorite product of the Cedarcide lineup! smells great and does an amazing job at keeping fleas and ticks off of my two white dogs (who attract bugs like a magnet). This smells so good and the oil soaks in so quickly so it doesn't make you greasy feeling like other bug products. lemongrass is my favorite!

Smells great and seems to work well. Went looking for antler sheds. I sprayed it in myself a dn my husband did not use it. He came back with a tick and I did not. I have been using it in my dogs as well. Thank you for making a safe effective product!

      Thanks for the comment, Meghan!

Tickshield is super helpful when you venture into those deep woods areas, especially hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and anywhere there’s tall grass. We’re here if you need anything else πŸ™‚

This really works! I bring my 2 rough collies hiking almost everyday. They are on flea/tick preventive from the vet, but that stuff requires the tick to bite my dogs before it kills them. There have been times when I have had to remove 150+ ticks, after a 3 mile hike. I gave this a try and I admit, I was pretty skeptical. But the Cedarcide Tick Shield does work well to repel the ticks. It’s not perfect, but when I use this, I usually only find 20 or so ticks. 150 to 20 is a huge drop! The only negative is the smell. My dogs literally run from me when I pick up the spray bottle, because they hate the smell. And I don’t spray a ton on them. It’s just super strong and not very pleasant, but it does work.

      Hi, Jaime!

Thanks for leaving us a review. Sounds like you’re in some really heavy tick country there. Our team includes many hikers and outdoorsmen, so we understand run-ins with those little monsters, however as a team we only pick up a handful bug bites in an entire year, so hearing you’re still seeing 20 is a bit alarming. So we’d like to find you something more to your liking. We suggest our new All-Purpose Bug Spray in lemongrass. It tests very well for ticks specifically and the smell is much lighter since it sounds like you’re not a big fan of the traditional cedar-closet like cedar oil smell. Use discount code APB5 to save $5 on us, or give us a call we’ll gladly send you a sample πŸ™‚

And just like you, we have a few pups who don’t like the spraying action either (they run as soon as they see the bottle), so we apply with our hands instead and that gets the job done. We’re here if you need anything else. (800-842-1464).
