Here are the facts we have found about Pyrethrin based products. All the Pyrethrin based products that we have found MSDS sheets on have the same warnings or types of warnings on them to the public. Most of the time the public is not given even a label to look at because these products are placed into a misting system drum that is installed at someone's home. These are the facts in black and white, read them for yourself so you have the facts you need to make an intelligent decision about the types of products you want to be used at your home.

The link below is the specimen label for Pyronyl 303, an organic based product that uses Pyrethrin. In this document the directions say for spray mist systems you should dilute the product to a level that leaves you with a 0.1 to 0.5 percent Pyrethrin just before use. It also states that it "Causes substantial but temporary eye injury. Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin…", … "Do not allow children or pets to come in contact with treated areas until it is dried…." "Vacate after treatment and ventilate before you reoccupy." And that is just for starters.

Below is the link for the MSDS sheet on the same product. It states many things that can go wrong from the inability to breath to loss of consciousness. Granted that is a 3% concentrate.

So lets look at one that is a bit more like the range that is required for automatic misting systems being promoted as safe for children, adults and pets. In fact, a local AM radio station even stated that you could lather up in it to wash yourself to help them promote the product as safe. This MSDS sheet actually states that in cases where a reaction to the inhalation of the product is extreme an Atropine injection is recommended. Atropine, in case you did not know, is an antidote for chemical warfare chemicals. This product has .5% Pyrethrin, the same strength listed on the label of the product being promoted as safe on that local AM radio station.

The MSDS sheet below states that it's harmful if absorbed through the skin. It's 1% Pyrethrin but that means you only need half as much to suffer the same effects as one at .5%.

We have several more MSDS sheets and they all state the same things. "…May cause gastrointestinal effects such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Ingestion of large quantities can result in nervous system effects such as dizziness, loss of coordination, tremors and loss of consciousness…"

These are the facts in black and white and now you have a decision to make. Are you going to allow the local sellers of these product and your local radio stations to continue to insult your intelligence about these products or are you going to start putting your foot down and help stop the lies?
